Members and Friends of Christ Presbyterian Church,
"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for wholeness and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope." Jeremiah 29:11
Today is an historic day for our church as our members have voted to merge with Geneva Orthodox Presbyterian Church. The final vote was 29 in favor, 5 opposed and 1 abstention, an 85% majority in favor of the merger. This was not 100% and we pray those voting against the merger will remain in our congregation. We are the same congregation this evening as we were when we walked into our worship this morning and all are welcome.
Over the next few weeks the officers of both churches will meet to begin the planning required to merge our congregations. Please be in prayer for unity during this time of transition as well as joy and thankfulness to our Lord and savior, Jesus Christ. More details will be shared as they become available.
"And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

THIS SUNDAY'S SERMON TOPIC:
The Day of Darkness
God is my strong salvation;
what foe have I to fear?
In peril and temptation
my light, my help, is near.
Though hosts encamp around me,
firm to the fight I stand;
what terror can confound me,
with God at my right hand?
- God Is My Strong Salvation (#667, Trinity Hymnal)
What will you do when you face the day of darkness? For those who place their trust in Christ, we can be assured that God will strengthen us during that dark time.
Join us as William Wood opens the Word of God for us.
Sermon Bible Text
"The great day of the Lord is near; it is near and hastens quickly. The noise of the day of the Lord is bitter; there the mighty men shall cry out. That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of devastation and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness, a day of trumpet and alarm against the fortified cities and against the high towers."
